The oldest in the world 世界最古の...

I had a short break before major vacation season will come. My visit to the beer brewery which is the oldest in the world: Weihenstephan in Freising, Germany. The city is very close to the Munich airport.

本格的な夏休みシーズンが始まる前に、小休止を入れて、世界最古の醸造所へお邪魔することにした。ドイツ、フライジングにあるヴァイエンシュテファン。ミュンヘン空港のすぐ近くだ。

The trip to Germany by train. I have an Austrian card with which I can use trains within Austria for free, it cost me just 28.5 Euro.


旅は列車で。オーストリア国内どこへでも行ける、オーストリアカードがあるので、旅費はわずか28.5ユーロ。

First to Munich, then change train to Freising. Not very far from Munich, on the way there, the landscape changes.

まずミュンヘンへ行き、そしてそこで電車を乗り換えてフライジングへ。近づくに従い、車窓からの景色が変わっていく。

From the station, I just try to reach on foot. The weather is very fine and beer should taste excellent in such the day. I just followed the sign on the street. I walked into a small path along a small river. There were lots of fish swimming in the river.

駅からは歩いて行ってみることにする。とてもいい天気で、こんな日はビールが最高にうまい。道にある標識をたどって行く。 車の入れない散歩道に入り、小川に沿って歩いていく。橋からはたくさん魚が泳いでいるのが見える。

It took me 40 minutes to come. On the top of a hill was the brewery and there is also an university just by that. Maybe professors (and students also?) enjoy their lunch there very much every day!

結局ここにたどり着くまで40分かかった。丘の上に醸造所がある。そのすぐ脇には大学が。たぶん、教授達は（学生も？）毎日ランチを堪能しているに違いない。

In beer garden were almost full with customers. I sat at a big table shared with other people. While I was waiting, a man told me that the table is without service and I have to fetch drink and food by myself. By the way, what a nice beer garden.

ビアガーデンはお客さんで一杯。他のお客さんと一緒に長机に座る。待っていたら隣の人が、ここはサービスなしの場所だからと教えてくれる。飲み物、食べ物、自分で取りにいかないといけない。それにしても居心地のいいビアガーデン。

I tried first pilsner beer to wet my throat after walk.

まず最初はピルスナーで、散歩で渇いた喉を潤す。

Then, I tried wheat beer, which I can find in some bars in Vienna, too, from tap. This can be the representative beer from this brand. Decent sweetness.

続いて、ウィーンでも樽から飲めるバーが数軒ある、ここのヴァイツェン。代名詞と言ってもいいかもしれない。 上品な甘味だ。

The group by me were in cycling suites, I asked them where they came from. Munich. They had some rest with beer here. Local people are very proud of their beer in Munich. Yes, absolutely true.

隣のグループはサイクルスーツを着ていたので、どこから来たのか聞いてみると、ミュンヘンからとのこと。ちょうどビール休憩の模様。地元の人たちはやっぱり、ミュンヘンのビールが最高だと誇りに思っているようだ。まったく異議なし。

Slowly I became hungry, I entered in the restaurant. The last beer I had here was 1516 keller beer. It was wonderful. Maybe the beer with their old recipe?

しばらくしてお腹が空いてきたので、中に入る。 最後に飲んだビール、シーズンビールだが、これがおいしかった。1516 ケラービール。おそらく古いレシピのビールだろう。

 

Hanami in Hakodate 函館で花見をする

Hakodate in Hokkaido. I came here by Shinkansen through the tunnel under the channel. Famous for squid. Not only squid, crabs, too. I enjoyed watching and tasting in the market.

北海道は函館。青函トンネルを通って新幹線でやってきた。イカが有名だが、カニも。市場での散策を楽しんだ。

 

Then I went to see cherry blossoms in Goryokaku park. Koi-Noboris are there. There was a long queue in from of the elevator to the top of the tower, I gave up to wait and then into the park. Snow-capped mountains and cherry blossoms in full bloom, the water in the moat reflects the blossoms. It was excellent!.

お次はお目当ての桜。五稜郭公園に向かう。五稜郭タワーには鯉のぼりが。タワーに登るのにどうも一時間ほどの行列があるようなので諦めて公園へ。遠景に雪をかぶった山、堀の水に満開の桜が映って、それはそれは綺麗!

I just go over the bridge to the inside of the moat. It seems that it is not allowed to eat and drink inside of the moat. It is more relaxed and can enjoy watching blossoms. It was very hot, above 30 degrees, this weekend should be the last to watch blossoms. I was here in the best time.

橋を渡って堀の内側へ。堀のうち側ではどうやら飲食が規制されているようで、ゆっくりと花を堪能できる。30度を越える暑さ。これだけ暑いと、桜はこの週末で終わりか。正に最高のタイミング。

Again being back to the outside of the moat, I found that people were sitting and doing baroque there. They lent grills and also sold ingredients and drinks. It was a nice service.

再度堀の外に戻ってくると、座ってバーベキューをしている人たちを見つける。バーベキューセットの貸出やら飲み物を含めた食材を売っていた。これはいいサービス。

I went up to the top of the Hakodateyama mountain by cable car where it is very famous for its night view from the top. Of course there was no night view but it was a great view.

ケーブルカーで夜景がとても有名な函館山に登る。もちろん夜景は拝めないが、素晴らしい眺め。

 

Many colorful churches カラフルな教会

I walked to the center on foot. It is actually just one and a half subway station away, but Kyiv is big and the subway stations are not close to each other like in other European cities. It took more than an hour.

中心街まで歩いて行ってみる。実際には地下鉄で1駅半くらいの距離なのだが、キエフは大きな町で、地下鉄の駅も他のヨーロッパの街の地下鉄の様に小刻みにない。一時間以上かかった。

Then after that I went to the Ukrainian State museum of the Great Patriotic War and to the Motherland Monument. The statue with a sabel and a schield is about 90 meters tall and we can go up to the shield. But it was very cold that day and I gave up. It might be nice in summer.

その後、第二次大戦の戦勝記念公園へ。両手に剣と盾を掲げた像は９０メートルほどあり、エレベーターで盾の上までは登れるようだが、この日あまりにも寒いので断念。夏はいいかもしれない。

Christmas in Kyiv キエフのクリスマス

Ukrainian religion is Orthodox and they have Christmas on January 7th. In the main square of the city Christmas market is opened and there were lots of people.

ウクライナは正教の国なので、クリスマスは1月7日だ。街の中心にはクリスマス市場が並び、たくさんの人で賑わう。

 

Chernobyl museum チェルノブイリ博物館

It was slightly snowing outside. Chernobyl museum was not very far from the hotel, only about 10 minutes on foot. In front it is written "Chornobyl Museum". The name "Chernobyl" has been spread with Russian name, but in Ukrainian the name of the city is Chornobyl. I have never known it before.

外はちらちらと雪が降っていた。チェルノブイリ博物館はホテルからそれほど遠くない。徒歩10分弱というところ。正面には”チョルノブイリ博物館”と書いてある。”チェルノブイリ”という名前はロシア語の名前で広がったが、ウクライナではその町の名前をチョルノブイリというそうだ。知らなかった。

 

In the small museum, we can see newspaper articles, clothes or masks of the workers at reactors, videos. Some of video coders or terminals to search information were donated by Japanese government, for each I was able to see a small seal "JAPAN". Mr Aso's signature was also there who seemed to visit there then.

こじんまりとした博物館内には、当時の新聞記事から、作業員の服やマスク、ビデオなどたくさん展示されている。日本からも支援としてビデオコーダーや検索用の端末などが贈られており、それぞれの機器にJapanのシールが貼ってある。当時訪問されたと見られる麻生外務大臣の署名もおいてあった。

Watching in a map, Kyiv is not very far from Chernobyl. The wind brought everything toward north then. I tried to read newspaper articles of the day. There were lots of people working in Chernobyl, with the title "our reactor" it is written in very detail how and what happened at the reactors that supplied much of electricity in Ukraine.

こうして地図で見てみると、キエフはチェルノブイリとそれほど離れていない。ただ風がすべてを北に運んでいってくれたようである。当日の新聞記事も分かるところだけを拾い読みしてみる。チェルノブイリでは当時たくさんの人が仕事をしており、”われわれの原発”というタイトルで、ウクライナの電力供給の要であった発電所に起こった惨事を事細かく取り上げている。

In Japan by now, there is no facility or museum to see what happened in Fukushima in 2011. Possibly here. Downstairs there were some panels after Fukushima case.

  

今の日本に、２０１１年の福島で何があったのかを統合的に見る施設は未だにない。強いてあげればここなのだろう。階下には福島原発事故のパネルが展示されていた。

Mennya Musashi in Kyiv キエフの麺屋武蔵

The restaurant in Konstiantynivska street. There are two more in Kyiv.

コンスティアンティニフスカ通りの店舗。キエフ市内には３店舗ある模様。

Chasu is written in Russian "Chashu". English translation seems even strange.

チャーシューもロシア語で「チャーシュー」って書いてある。英語の方がなんだかよく分からん。

I was surprised to hear that a young man slurped the ramen. And there were many customers, men or women, who came here alone, ate and then went out.  Ramen ist much more popular here than in Vienna. Moreover, it costs less than five Euro.

隣でラーメンをすすって食べていた兄ちゃんがいたのにはびっくりした。１人で入ってきてラーメンを食べて出て行く男性、女性もたくさん。ウィーンよりもラーメンが定着してます。しかも５ユーロ弱です。

The next vist, I asked to serve the soup hotter, it was for me. But please work hard to improve how to cook Gyoza. Even though, it was great overall.

2回めの来店時には、熱いスープで出して欲しいと注文してみた。そう、それです。でも、餃子の焼き方はもう少し修行してくださいね。それでもとにかく素晴らしい。

Kyiv, a city near from Vienna but different キエフ、ウィーンから近くて遠い町

I was wondering where to go after New Year, I thought of practicing Russian after I spoke a little in Katowice. I need a visa to travel toRussia, where else? Ukraine!

正月明けからどこに行こうか考えていた。カトヴィツェで少しロシア語を話したが、もう少し練習したい。ロシアに行くとなるとビザが要るし、そうなるともう、ウクライナです。

In my further research where in Ukraine, I happend to find that there are ramen Musashi restaurants in Kyiv. It seemed that I was just attracted to Japanese food in Europe as I went to Katowice, but well, hotel is inexpensive and all other things are cheap. Done.

ウクライナのどこにしようかと、いろいろネットを探しているうちに、キエフに麺屋武蔵のお店があるのを発見。何だか前回のカトヴィツェみたいに、食物に惹かれているだけのような感じではあるが、ホテルも物価も安いし、決定。

It was just within two-hour flight to Kyiv from Vienna. I booked the hotel in last minutes, I got a upgraded room. The hotel was in art nouveau style and furnitures were also very chic, just two subway stations away from the very center. From the window, I saw a beautiful church on the top of a hill.

ウィーンからキエフまでは飛行機で2時間かからない。間際にホテルを予約したせいか、本来よりもいい部屋に代えてくれた。ホテルはアールヌヴォー調で、家具も落ち着いたシックな感じ。町の中心部から地下鉄で二駅の立地。ホテルの窓からは遠くの丘の上に綺麗な教会が見える。
