Pray in Palau (Peleliu 3) パラオで祈る (ペリリュー島３)

We then went to the Peace Memorial Park. This memorial was constructed by Japanese Health and Welfare Ministory. It faces toward Japan. So that soldiers in the heaven who suffered from lack of drinking water during the War, on both sides of the monument there are rain water saver.

その後、平和記念公園へ。この碑は日本の厚生省が建てたもので、碑はまっすぐ日本の方角を向いている。戦時中、飲み水に困った兵士があの世で水に困ることがないよう、碑の両側には雨水受けがついており、水が流れるようになっている。

 

The way to the Park, which was completed damaged by the typhoon in 2013 was repaired for the visit of Japanese Tennou. On the runway, a landing place for helicopter was made. Among the jungle, Zero fighter still remains by now.

平和記念公園に至るまでの道は、２０１３年の台風の被害で大幅に壊れ、通れなくなっていたものを天皇皇后両陛下の訪問に合わせて復旧され、滑走路にはヘリ発着用のアスファルトが敷かれたそうである。ジャングルの中にはこうして日本軍の零戦もそのまま残っている。

We finally headed for Nakayama, Ooyama where the Japanese solgiers kept contronting and fighting. There is 200mm cannon settled but unused.

最後に向かったのは日本軍が最後まで抵抗し、戦いつづけた、中山、大山。使われることのなかった２００ミリの大砲も設置されている。

Japanese troop utilized the narrow valley geography, dug caves and hid themselves during the day, and came out at night and fought against American soldiers. A memorial monument stands where they say Japanese Colonel Kunio Nakagawa killed himself in the end. All of us raised the incense, kneed down and met palms together in turn.
 
ここでも日本軍は地形を利用し、洞穴を掘って日中は隠れ、夜襲をしながらアメリカ軍と戦った。その兵を率いた中川大佐が自決をしたと言われているところに鎮魂碑が作られている。ここでもわれわれ全員がお線香を上げ、手を合わせた。

 

In front of Ooyama Peleliu shrine was built by Japanese volunteers. 45,000 American soldiers and 10,000 Japanese. Only 34 Japanese soldiers came home finally.

この大山の正面に、日本人有志による出資で建てられたのがペリリュー神社。アメリカ軍4万5千の兵に対し、日本軍１万。この戦いで最終的には投降して日本に帰国したのが34名。

In Japan, they only way that the War is bad. But they do not teach in school why and how it started. They do not teach neither, there were many Japanese soldiers who fought to delay American attack on Japanese main island as much as possible in desperate situation. Even many people really believe that Peace Constitution will keep Japan safe and should not change it, and just saying loud "Peace". In this way, we cannot even avoid possible war in the future without deep consideration by only Japanese, not by United Nations, why the last War happened, and why we had to fight.

日本では戦争はダメだという話ばかりが先になる。でも、どうして戦争になったのか、そういうことを教えない。ペリリュー島を含む南の島々で、アメリカの日本本土への上陸を一日でも遅らせようと、絶望的な戦況の中で戦った兵隊のことも教えない。 多くの日本人は平和憲法を守りさえすれば日本は平和でいられると本当に信じていて、憲法を時代に合わせて修正していくことに反対している。どうして起きたのか、どうして戦わなくてはいけなかったかを、日本人だけで考えられるようにならなくては、もしも将来戦争になりそうになったときに防ぐことができない。

After 70 years reports from American side is now opened, in Japan research of books which were prohibited publishing under GHQ time. I really like many Japanese visit Palau. As our tour guide told us that he does work for that.

戦後７０年経って、アメリカで当時の記録が公開され、日本でもGHQ時代に発禁扱いになった書物の研究も進んでいる。ネットで情報を取ることもできるが、日本人には是非ペリリュー島に実際に行ってもらいたい。ツアーガイドの方もそう言っていた。一人でもたくさんの日本人に伝えたい。そのために仕事をしていると。

Pray in Palau (Peleliu 2) パラオで祈る (ペリリュー島２)

We then visited Peleliu World War II Memorial Museum. The building was used by Japanese military as weapon lager. In side the small building, there were panels written in both English and Japanese about the proceeding of the war, news paper articles then, or what soldiers took back with them from both sides. They were very impressive. We were given 20 minutes there, but actually I wanted a bit more time for the museum. There were lots to read in American articles.

その後、ペリリュー大戦博物館へ。以前は日本軍の武器弾薬庫として使われていたそうである。中には大戦の流れを英語で日本語の両言語で説明したパネルに、当時の新聞記事、兵士の持ち帰ったものなど、大変興味深いものが展示されていた。ツアーガイドからは20分の自由時間ということだったが、正直もう少し記事を読む時間が欲しかった。アメリカ側からの資料にはたくさん読みたい内容があった。

Next, Japanese command center. It was bombed and had a huge hole on the ceilling. The building was robust and pilars do not have any damages.

次に日本軍の情報本部跡、アメリカ軍上陸そうそうに爆撃を受け、天井に大きな穴が開いているが、建物自体はとても丈夫に作られており、柱自体はなんともない。

 

 

We also saw a Japanese tank which was bombed. Then we went to runway, which was the main reason of American military to seize control of Peleliu before they went further to the Philippines. The runway used to have two runways, north-south and west-east and each crossed each other in the middle. Now only noth-south runway can be seen. Around the runway is just jungle. 

爆撃を受けて乗り捨てられた日本軍の戦車などを見て、アメリカ軍が作戦としてフィリピン上陸前にパラオを制圧しようとした理由の一つだった、旧滑走路へ。以前は東西方向と南北方向の滑走路が真ん中で交差していたそうだが、今は南北の走路しか残っていない。周囲はジャングルで木が生い茂っている。

 

Then we went to Orange Beach where American landed. Just by the beach there is the 81th Infantry Division Memorial of US military, the bus did not stopped and went through. From the bus stopped near the beach, I walked back and met pals in front of the memorial. Orange beach is a rough shoaling beach. There is nothing left that there was a firece fight then.

その後、アメリカ軍が上陸してきたオレンジビーチ、そのすぐ脇にはアメリカ軍の代８１歩兵慰霊碑があるが、ガイドからは説明だけでバスは止まらない。オレンジビーチ付近に止まったバスから、一人少し戻ってアメリカ軍の慰霊碑でも手を合わせる。オレンジビーチは遠浅のゴツゴツした海岸だが、当時そんなことがあったことなど感じさせるものは何も残っていない。
 

Our bus traveled  quickly through the island in the morning, now we had a lunch break. We went to the South Dock and had lunch box from our tour guide. These were brought from Koror island, there is no shop in Peleliu island.

午前中早足で観光をしてきたが、ここでお昼休憩。南波止場にて配られたお弁当を頂く。 弁当はもちろんコロール島から運んで来たもの。ペリリュー島にはそういうお店がない。

Pray in Palau (Peleliu 1) パラオで祈る (ベリリュー島 １)

Main purpose of visit Palau was to go to Peleliu island and thank soldiers who fought for Japan. I attended the tour to see many sites in Peleliu island following day.

パラオ旅行の主たる目的は、ペリリュー島に行って、日本のために戦った兵隊さんたちに感謝をし、手を合わせることだった。翌日ペリリュー島を巡るツアーに参加する。

From the Koror island where my hotel stands, it took for about an hour by boat to get to Peleliu island toward south. On the way we traveled through Rock Islands which consists of lots of small islands and is the World Heritage. As the boat traveled, the color of the ocean changed frequently. It was the color like jewelry. I felt that I was totally cleaned up from inside.

ホテルのあるコロール島からボートで一時間、ペリリュー島に向かって南に進む。一帯は世界遺産にも登録されている、ロックアイランドというたくさんの島々。ボートが沖に進むにしたがって、海の色が刻一刻と変化していく。宝石のような色だ。心の洗濯とはまさにこのこと。

 

 

 

Landing on the North Dock, we first went to 1000 Man/Hospital Cave, which Japanese soldiers dug to hide themselves from American bombing or firethrower attack. Inside is like a huge maze. Just next to the cave there is Pillbox to snipe American soldiers who tried to land from the shore.

ペリリュー島の北波止場に上陸して最初に向かったのは、アメリカ軍の爆撃、火炎放射器などによる攻撃を防ぐために掘られた、千人洞窟と呼ばれる中がとても広い洞窟。中はまるで迷路のようだ。
すぐ隣には上陸するアメリカ兵を狙撃するためのトーチカが並んでいる。

Our tour guide handed each of us maglite, and guided through the cave with explanation. Japanese soldiers dug the cave without proper tools by hands. Inside the cave is kept as it used to be, glass bottles or rice canteens were lying there. There was a room to nurse injured soldiers.

ツアーガイドがみんなに懐中電灯を配り、説明をしながら洞窟の中を案内してくれた。ろくな道具もない中、手で掘り進めたそうである。洞窟の中は当時そのままの状態で、瓶や飯ごうなどが転がっている。負傷した兵士を看護するための部屋もあった、

After the cave, we went to Mitana, war memorial. Next to the block of American soldiers' tombstones, there is memorial of Japanese soldiers. All of us offered incense sticks and faced palms in fromt of meorials in turn.

洞窟を後にして向かったのが、戦没者慰霊碑のみたま。アメリカ兵の墓の隣の一角に日本兵を慰霊する碑が並んでいる。ここで見学者全員が順に線香に火をつけて慰霊碑に手を合わせる。

 

Eat in Palau パラオを食べる

In Palau, mangrove crab is the local special food. It is not very cheap, is in market about 25 dollars for 500g. I tried Parauan beer, steamed mangrove crab and water spinach at a Chinese restaurant in the center of Koror. I was asked to choose one of crabs in the pool. It weighed almost 1kg.

パラオに行ったら、マングローブ蟹はなんとしても食べたい。決して安くはない。時価もので５００gで25ドルほど。コロールの中心にある中華レストランで、パラオ産のビール、蒸しマングローブ蟹と空心菜を注文する。店の人に、水槽にいる蟹から好きなのを選ぶように言われる。１kgくらいあった。

The shell of the crab is very hard and thick,  hardly breakable by teeth. I got a tool like a gripper to break shells. The meat was really firm and tasty.

蟹の殻はとても硬くて厚く、歯で割ろうとしても割れるものではない。殻を割るためのハンドグリッパーのようなものが付いてくる。身はプリプリしていておいしい。

The next day, I attended a tour to visit Ngardmau water fall among jungle in Babeldaob island. The way to the waterfall, it had a quilte different scenery from Koror. Everlasting Jungle is on about 200m altitude. Along the road panels with national flags of foreign countries can be seen which tells the road was built by the help of the countries.

翌日、空港のあるバベルダオブ島のジャングルにあるガラツマオ滝を見に行く。コロールとは違い、海抜２００mくらいの高地に熱帯雨林のジャングルがひたすら続く。道路脇には、アメリカや台湾の国旗がかかれたパネルが建てられている。この道路区間は海外からの援助にて整備されていることを示すパネルだ。

We went down to the waterfall along the minecart rails which were used to collect and transfer bauxite during Japanese time. Even at noon, it is slightly dark among lots of trees. Looking up, I found lots of nepenthes rafflesiand drooping from above.

滝まで、当時日本がボーキサイトの採掘、運搬に使っていたトロッコのレールに沿って降りていく。まわりは木々がうっそうと茂っている。ふと見上げるとウツボカズラが上から下がっている。

We arrived at river bank. Later on we went down long the river.

川が見えてきた。 その後、川の岩肌伝いにさらに降っていく。

 

We had lunch which our young tour guide carried down on his back. Sandwitches and fruits. The waterfall was about 30m high, the water was warmer than I imagined. I found many small tadpoles and fish with big eyes which I have never seen before.

ガイドのお兄さんが背負ってきたお昼のサンドイッチと果物を食べて、滝に。思ったより水が温かい。オタマジャクシに、見たことがないような大きな目をした魚が泳いでいる。

 

The tour guide who accompanied us just graduated from a university and used to play baseball. He continues to play baseball there in Palau. We started to talk about baseball. There are not so many Japanese living away from Japan and play baseball. I presented my team's T-shirt to him via an another tour guide next day. I heard that he was very happy with it.

ガイドのお兄さんは大学を出たばかりくらいの元球児。パラオでもチームに入って野球をしているらしい。ひょんなことから話が野球の話になる。海外で野球をしている日本人はそういるものじゃない。彼にはあくる日に参加したツアーのガイドを通じて、チームジャパンのTシャツをプレゼントした。とても喜んでもらえたらしい。

Back again thourgh the way we took, we had fresh coconut juice and then our tour guide cut the meat and served us with soy sauce and wasabi. It tasted like squid with Japanese yam texture. This can be a great match with sake.

同じ道を登って戻り、ヤシの実のジュースを頂く。ヤシの果汁を楽しんだ後、ガイドのお兄さんがヤシの実を割り、果肉を刻み、醤油とわさびでどうぞと差し出した。ほんのりイカのような甘味のある、自然薯のような食感。いいお酒のつまみになりそう。

Japan in Palau パラオの中の日本

Most of Parauan live in Koror island. There are still many things to be seen from Japanese time. The gate of Parau High School was built in Japanese time and still used until now. I booked a motel just behind the high school.

パラオの人口の大半が住むコロール島。日本時代の痕跡が今でも残っています。泊まっていた場所のすぐ近くにあったパラオ高校の門は、当時のものがそのまま使われています。

On the other side of the Palau high school, the building of the South Pacific Mandate is now used as surpreme court.

そのパラオ高校の道路の反対側には、当時南洋庁の建物が最高裁判所として使われています。

About 1500 Japanese words including "Emonkake" (hanger), "Tamanegi" (onion), "Shinbun" (newspaper), and "Oishii" (delicious) became Parauan and are still used by now.

”えもんかけ”、”たまねぎ”、”しんぶん”、”おいしい”、などを含めた１５００ほどの日本語はパラオ語になり、今でも使われているそうです。

At a gas station, I found a school bus which was sent by Japanese government as ODA. Seeing this sign on the bus, everybody knows it.

ガソリンスタンドで、日本から送られたスクールバスを見つけました。ODAによる援助です。こうして日の丸をつけたバスを見れば、このことはみなさんご存知です。

In Palau, I did not plan anything in advance and spent without "I have to....". I found a leeflet of Rock Island Tour Company at DW motel where I stayed for the first four nights and booked some tours. This motel is not a resort hotel, but very close to the center and staffs are very friendly.

パラオでは前もって予定を立てず、のんびり過ごすことにしました。パラオを観光するのにお世話になったのが、ロックアイランドツアーカンパニーさん。最初の4泊したDWモーテルにパンフレットが置いてあるのを見て、気に入ったツアーを申し込みました。このモーテルはリゾートホテルではありませんが、街の中心に近く、スタッフの皆さんたちはとても親切でした。

At the KB bridge which connects Koror island and Babeldaob island where there is the airport and is also called Palau-Japan friendship bridge, we can find the panel that this bridge has been built by Japanese ODA. Originally this bridge was constructed by a Korean company which made a successful bid then. But there is a history about this bridge.

コロール島と、パラオ空港のあるバベルダオブ島とを結ぶKBブリッジ（日本＝パラオフレンドシップブリッジとも呼ばれているようです）にも、橋のたもとに日本のODAによって建てられたことが記されています。元々は韓国企業が落札して工事を手がけたこの橋、歴史があるようです。

Without asking return and help people in trouble. This is the fine foreign diplomacy for sure. If all ODA from Japan will be used in that way, Japanese citizens will be happy to pay taxes.

見返りを求めず、困っている人がいたら手を差し伸べる。こうしたことが立派な外交であるのは間違いありません。こういうODAばかりなら、みんな税金を喜んで払うのに、と思うのですが。

Palau パラオ

I do not believe that any Japanese would ask people who are going to Hawaii or Guam, "why are you going there?". I think they will say in response "wow, I envy you."

ほとんどの日本人は、ハワイやグアムに行く人に、「どうしてそこに行くの？」という質問はしないでしょう。すぐに、「あぁ、いいなぁ」 という反応が返ってくるはずです。

Many people asked me this time, why I went to Palau. Palau is just one-hour flight away from Guam toward the Philippines. Palau is a resort country as same as Guam. Actually, lot of people would visit Palau for diving. After the WWI Japan mandated Palau, built schools and educated. But Palau is currently a "distant country" from Japan.

今回パラオに行って、いろんな人から、どうしてパラオなの？と聞かれました。パラオはグアムから飛行機でたった1時間ほどフィリピン寄りの所です。グアムと同じく観光リゾートです。実際に世界各国から、ダイビングをしに来る観光客がたくさんいます。第一次世界大戦後、日本画国連から委任統治を任され、日本人が学校を作り教育していたにも関わらず、今の日本人にはパラオは遠い国というのが現状のようです。

Clint Eastwood who directed the movie "Letters from Iwo Jima" (the name of the island is correctly Iwo Tou) told later that he was really surprised that many Japanese do not know the battle there. Maybe some people still remember that in 2013 Japanese prime minister Abe visited the island, got down on both knees with head bowed to the asphalted run way under which still many dead of Japanese soldiers are lying. Iwo-tou is in Japan, but it is prohibited to go even for Japanese people. Some people may know that Mr. Shigenaru Aoyama told about this island in his video or books. We can at least visit Palau without problems.

「硫黄島からの手紙」の映画を監督したクリント＝イーストウッドが後日談として、日本人がそこでの日米の戦いのことを全く知らないのには驚いた、ということを語っています。２０１３年に安倍首相が硫黄島を訪問し、戦争後に米軍が作った滑走路の下に未だに残っている遺骨に対して土下座をしたことをまだ記憶しておられる方もいらっしゃるでしょう。硫黄島は歴とした日本の領土ですが、その日本人が立入禁止になっています。青山繁晴さんのお話、本などでご存知の方もおありでしょう。でもパラオなら問題なく行けると思っていました。

I found an interview video in YouTube, natives are speaking in Japanese. This video is a Japanese TV program which invites TV-crues from foreign countries to introduce Japan in their countries. It is a very nice program.

YouTubeにも取材映像を見つけました。現地の方が日本語で話しておられます。 テレビ番組日本総本家の「日本という名の惑星」の、パラオの回もとても面白いです。この番組、本当にいい番組ですね。

The last push to visit Palau this time was that I received a thank-you letter from Palauan ambassader in Japan, when I sent money due to typhoon damage. This was the first time to receive a thank-you letter.

パラオに行く最後の決め手になったのは、駐日大使から募金のお礼の手紙を頂いたことです。それまでに地震や台風、洪水などで被害を受けた国々に赤十字などを通して募金を送って来ましたが、こうしたお礼の手紙が届いたのは初めてのことだったからです。

Until the combat in Palau, Japanese mainly did so-to-say suicide attack, after the situation became worse. But the guerilla strategy which was first took in Palau, became the main stream of all combats followed. After the WWII US mandated Palau and then became independent in 1992. There are more than 200 islands, 16 states. People are living in about 10 islands.

パラオでの、それまでの主流だった玉砕を禁じたゲリラ戦は、その後の作戦の主流になったと言われています。パラオは戦後アメリカ委任領になりましたが、その後１９９２年に独立しました。２００以上ある島に、16の州がある国ですが、人が住んでいる島は１０ほどのようです。

To Peleliu islands where the battle between US and Japan took place, we can reach in an hour by boat. We can visit caves which Japanese military dug to hide themselves from US attack, bombing or flamethrowers. The caves are kept as they used to be.

戦場になったペリリュー島は、一番人の住むコロール島から船で一時間、途中世界遺産にもなっているロックアイランドを通って行きます。ホテルはなく、レストランなどもありません。戦時中、アメリカ軍の火炎放射器や空爆から身を隠すために日本軍が掘った洞窟を見学でき、洞窟は当時のままに保存されています。

Full of nature, birds will wake us up in the morning. It is warm all through the year and people are warm-hearted.
I really wish that many Japanese visit Palau, indeed.

島は自然に溢れ、朝は野鳥のさえずりで目が覚める。一年を通じて暖かく、そして人も温かい。
もっとたくさんの日本人にパラオに行ってもらいたい。本当にそう思います。

Helsinki ヘルシンキ

I have changed planes several times at Helsinki, but I have never seen the city before. I decided to stay there for a night to see the city for the first time. It was a very late flight to Helsinki, arrived at the hotel by taxi at 22:30. I had no chance to find something to eat. I went to bed after shower.

ヘルシンキには飛行機の乗り換えでしか行ったことがなかった。今回は一泊して初めて街中をぶらぶらしてみることにした。ヘルシンキへのフライトは夜遅い便だったので、タクシーを捕まえてホテルでチェックインしたのが２２時半。何も食べられない。すぐにシャワーを浴びて寝る。

The next day, I woke up at around 7:00. I spent time by surfing in the Internet. I got a city map from the reception the day before which was made by a group of local people for tourists. I looked for information what is near the hotel and decided where I wanted to go before the departure. I had half a day in the city.

あくる日、７時ごろ目が覚めた。インターネットでどこに行こうか調べてみる。昨晩受付で地元の若い人たちが作った旅行者向けの地図をもらったので、それを参考にホテルの近くにあるものや、出発前に行けるところを探す。時間は半日ある。

I got to find that there was a Japanese movie "seagull bistro" which was recently taken in Helsinki and the bistro of the model is now visited by lots of Japanese tourists. The bistro was not on the map created by locals. I followed the information of local people. I did not have any guide book, I would get information after arriving and ask people there. Yes, they will be satisfied when they finish tracing somebody's path. It is ok. Actually Japanese students living there can find a part time job there.

最近日本の映画で「かもめ食堂」というのが流行ったらしい。ヘルシンキのとあるビストロを舞台にして撮られたようで、どうやら日本人観光客に人気らしい。
その「食堂」はジモティーの地図には載っていない。地元民の情報に従うことにする。ガイドブックなどあまり買わないし、着いてから現地で聞くことにしている。
もちろん、誰かが作った観光コースをトレースすることで満足できる人もいるが、それも悪くはない。実際、ここで大学に通う日本人学生のいいバイト先になる。

I always visit local market to see which kind of groceries they are selling. I found a market at the harbor. There is a famous dome near the harbor and it should not very far from the hotel. Train station, too, but in different direction.

旅行中はいつでも市場に行って、どんな食材を売っているか見ることにしている。市場は港の近くにある。有名なドームも港の近くにあるから、ホテルからも遠くはないはずだ。列車の駅も近くにあるが、ドームとは反対の方向だ。

At 9:30 it was still dark, but I went outside. I first wanted to check where the station is. It looked like that there is a direct connection to the airport which takes only 30 minutes. I took the way from feeling and where people walked to. It was a big station with gorgious facade, which stands next to the bus terminal and a park. A temporal skate link was there, too, as it quite common in European cities. Then I tried to find a way to the harbor.

9時になったがまだ暗い。それでも出かけてみることにした。まず駅の場所を確認する。駅から空港まで直通のようだ。30分で行けるらしい。人が歩いて行く方向に向かって歩いてみる。バスターミナルと公園の隣に立派な入口のある大きいな建物だ。ヨーロッパの大きな町ではよく見られるが、公園の中に簡易スケート場が作られている。それから波止場に向かう。

It started to get brighter, but it was cloudy. There is a big main street to the harbor and many shops are along the street. On the other side of the street there is a park. Across the park, there is an another street which runs in parallel but to the opposite direction. They are one-way streets. I walkied through the park, just stopped by each time when I found something interesting along the street.


少しづつ明るくなってきたが相変わらずの曇り空。
波止場まで向かう大きな通りがある。通りに沿ってたくさんの店があって、その反対側には公園がある。公園を横切ると反対側にも道路があり、最初の通りとは平行に、でも反対側に伸びている。どちらも一方通行だ。公園を歩きながら、気になる店があるところで入ってみる。

Book stores are always to visit. The one I found along the street was somehow interesting.
The center of the building was open to the third floor, there was a small neat cafe on the second floor.
I could have had a cup of coffee there for breakfast, but I went on.
It was a book store for sure, but I also felt like I were in a library. It was very quiet and comfortable.


本屋にはいつも立ち寄ることにしている。通り沿いにあった本屋は何というか、面白い作りだった。
3階建てで、真ん中が吹き抜けになっている。2回には隅のほうに居心地のよさそうなカフェがある。一瞬朝食ついでにそこでコーヒーともと思ったが、通り過ぎることにした。
間違いなく本屋なのだが、図書館にいるような雰囲気だ。静かで居心地がいい。

At the end of the street was a harbor. There were some suvenior shops there, and then it smelled. It was smell of grilled fish. Yes, I was hungry. In a tent they grilled squids, potatoes, herrings and salmons.

通りの突き当りが波止場になっていた。お土産屋が出ている。それから何か匂う。魚を焼いている匂い。腹が減ってきた。テントではイカ、ジャガイモ、ニシンに鮭を焼いていた。

Just around the corner of the harbor, there was a market, an old market. In the market building there were about 30? shops selling fish, cakes, breads or many different kinds of groceries and some cafes.
I found that there was a salmon soup cafe, which made me slightly regret to have eaten grilled fish at the harbor. It is worth visiting while walking around the harbor and the dome.

波止場の角を曲がったところに古いマーケットのある建物があった。30くらいの店が入っていて、魚にケーキやパン、他にもいろんな食材を売っている。カ フェもある。鮭のスープを出している店があって、波止場で焼き魚を食べたこと、少し後悔する。波止場やドームを見るのであれば、マーケットに入る価値は十 分にあると思う。

I was able to see the dome through a narrow street from the traffic signal at the harbor. I took the street and then I found a craft beer shop in the middlle of the short street. It was not in the local's map. But I wanted to buy a cool T-shirt hanging on the wall and of course wanted to try the Finn craft beer.


信号待ちで、狭い通りの向こうにドームが見えたのでそちらに行ってみる。その短い通りの真ん中くらいにクラフトビールの店があった。ジモティーが作った地図には載っていなかった。壁にかかっていたTシャツが欲しくなって入ってみる。もちろんフィンランドのクラフトビールも飲む。

A man on the other side of the counter, who looked a bit strict and stubborn, asked me which one I would like. They had 4 different kinds of beers. I selected IPA for the fist. It was really good. Downstairs there was a restaurant and beer container was by the stairs. There was a bar counter just next to the container, it was pitty that I was there too early to sit there.

カウンターの反対側には怖顔で頑固そうなおやじが居た。何が欲しいかと聞かれる。4種類の生ビールがあるのでIPAを最初に頼んでみる。美味しい！地下はレストランになっていて、会談の横にはビールを仕込むタンクがある。タンクの横はカウンターになっているが、早く来すぎたのが残念だった。

I liked the place very much and I decided to spend my hours in Helsinki there. I tried all 4 craft beers of the house. I found some winner prize of the beer contests on the wall, they were all really good.
I thanked the man for nice beers and asked to sell me the T-shirt.

その店がいたく気に入ったので、残りのヘルシンキの時間をそこで過ごすことに。4種類のビールを全部試してみる。壁にはコンテストの賞状が飾ってある。実際どのビールも美味しかった。
おじさんに美味しいビールをありがとうと言い、Tシャツを買う。

By the dome, a stage was set up for a concert for countdown for 2016.

ドームの隣には2016年へのカウントダウンパーティーをするためのステージが作られていた。

I went through shopping district of the down town and was back to the hotel.
I picked up my suitecase and then went to the station. The new line to the airport is operated in circle. The main station and the airport were on the other side of the circle.
It was just 6 Euros or some. The train was new, clean and very comfortable. No way to take taxi from the next time.


ショッピング街を通り抜けてホテルに戻り、スーツケースを受け取って駅に向かう。
空港に向かう新しい路線は環状になっている。中央駅の反対側が空港になっている。６ユーロくらいで行ける。列車の車両は新しく、綺麗で乗り心地もいい。
次に来ることがあればタクシーに乗ることはないだろう。
